Felicity Matthews started playing the violin soon after her 5th birthday in 1994, initially learning with Rachel Good in Cambridge. During this time she joined both Pro Corda, the National School for Young Chamber Music Players, and the National Children’s Orchestra. At the age of nine she moved to her current teacher Marius Bedeschi at the Royal College of Music, London. Whilst at the Junior Department of the RCM she has won the Hugh Bean Violin Competition and been awarded the Freda Dinn Memorial Prize. She made her concerto debut at the age of 11 in 2000 with the Bach Concerto in A minor at West Road, Cambridge. More recently she has played a number of concertos by Bach and Mozart with the Cambridge String Players and,  following the award of the Long Melford Music Society recital prize last year was invited to play the Mozart A major concerto earlier this season. She made her recital debut in 2004 at Bury St Edmunds. Her current violin, which has kindly been loaned to her, is a fine example of the work of Stefano Scarampella.
