Madeleine Reeves began playing the violin when she was four, switching to the viola a few years later as a pupil of George Sidebottom, Carol Fileul and James Boyd. She played for the Oxfordshire County Youth Orchestra and on stage and in the pit for the National Youth Music Theatre. As an undergraduate at Clare College, Madeleine was actively involved in University music. She held a University Instrumental Award and played in the University Chamber Orchestra, the New Music Ensemble and with the Zephyr Quartet. After University, her work and studies took her to Kyrgyzstan, where she was a member of the Chui Chamber Orchestra and Viva String Quartet. Returning to Cambridge for her PhD in Social Anthropology, Madeleine has been actively involved with the Chamber Musicians, performing with them in Cambridge and London and on the 2003 tour to Germany. She currently lives and works in Manchester, where she is involved in amateur chamber music and plays for the Stockport Symphony Orchestra.
